Started in 2001, the .NAME generic top-level extension is the single TLD supposed to be for personal websites only. These domain names can include personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other titles people are popular by. At first, only third-level registrations were allowed, so if you planned to purchase john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already taken third-level domain names remained operational.

You will be able to switch the WHOIS details, to park your domain, to create Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an active domain to our company if you get its EPP transfer code from the current registration provider and we will renew it once the transfer has been finalized. There are no specific rules on who can acquire a dot NAME domain name, but in order to preserve the concept behind its creation alive, the dot NAME Registry may verify who the owner is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain, the registration might be challenged.
