Every single registered domain name has at least 2 Name Server records which show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your Internet domain to the servers of a certain hosting company. This way, you have got both your website and your e-mails managed by the same service provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there are a number of other records, such as A and MX. The former shows which server deals with the website for a given domain address and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter indicates which server manages the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For example, any time you enter a domain name in your Internet browser, your request is directed through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain address uses and from there you will be directed to the servers of a different company provided you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain address. Having independent records for the website and the emails means that you can have your website and your e-mails with two different companies if you would like.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Web Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with each and every shared web hosting plan which we offer you, will allow you to view, change and set up A and MX records for any domain name or subdomain inside your account. From the DNS Records section, you will be able to view a list of all hosts inside the account in alphabetical order with their related records, so any update will not take you more than a couple of mouse clicks. Setting up new records is as easy if, for instance, you want to use the email services of a different service provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default 2. You can also set the priority for every MX record by setting different latency. To put it differently, when your emails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and in case the connection times out, it is going to contact the next one. Through our advanced tool, you are going to be able to manage the records of your domain names and subdomains effortlessly even if you have no previous experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you buy a semi-dedicated server plan from our company, you'll be able to view and change the A and MX records for any of the domains or subdomains that you host in the account. The Hepsia Control Panel, which you'll get to control the account, provides an advanced, though easy-to-use tool where all hosts will be listed in alphabetical order and you are going to be able to modify their records with no more than a few clicks. If you have to set up a new record, it's going to be just as simple - choose the domain/subdomain, type in the IP address or mail server record and you'll be ready. You'll also be able to set different priority for the MX records you create in case that you decide to use a third-party email provider and they ask you to create additional records other than the 2 default ones. If you ever encounter any troubles, we have a comprehensive Help section with videos in which you can see first-hand how to create or edit any record.
